Editor’s Note: The 57th Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Opens
We’re on the docks of the superyacht showcase that stretches across three million square feet and countless superyachts with the aim of bringing you the latest news and the most in-depth insights into the American market possible.
With an election only days away, the market activity surrounding American demand and consumer behaviour stronger than ever and the largest show in the world now officially open, this is an exciting time for the American yacht market.
We’ll be speaking with expert representatives across the show; however, we’ve had enough news to keep us busy in the meantime as post-Monaco movements hint at the success of MYS in the space between two of the largest shows in the superyacht calendar.
AMELS today announced the signing of a brand-new AMELS 212 superyacht project, and the progressive Italian yacht builder WIDER Yachts also presented a brand-new sale of a WIDER 125 which took place at the Monaco Yacht Show.
Lurssen Yachts introduced three superyachts well over 100 metres in two weeks, sending the yachting media into something of a frenzy, and more projects are emerging with more to follow in the coming days.
We had the distinct pleasure of working with Nobiskrug on Tuesday evening, as they hosted an exclusive dinner with some of Miami’s elite to introduce a new level of superyacht lifestyle before enjoying the finest foods Cipriani’s had to offer.
It’s already been a very busy week and the show has only just started. Stay tuned across our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds to keep up to date with the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.
Holger Kahl on Future Defining Projects at Nobiskrug
Nobiskrug has developed a reputation as a world class builder of bespoke yachts, with each project boasting highly distinctive characteristics.
We sat down with Holger Kahl, Managing Director of Nobiskrug, ahead of the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show to discuss the shipyard’s unique values – as well as getting some teasers about the company’s new 85-metre that recently entered the yard.
“I would love to tell you all the details but as usual we are not really able to do that,” he said, “but it will be one of the next breathtaking yachts that will appear somewhat a little bit later and will be one of the iconic yachts in the 80-85 metre range which is really a fantastic thing which is coming out.
“I think a lot of people are speaking about that yacht already as being the ‘glass yacht’. What does it mean? There is a lot of glass, a lot of unusual glass, but this is really all I can say.
“As we know, it is our philosophy and we are not a mass builder, we are doing these very, very unique yachts and are happy to do such a project and am looking forward to telling you a little bit more once she is out. It will be amazing.”

Downtown Miami is a hotspot for the global elite, and the fine dining experience of Cipriani’s presented the perfect platform for Nobiskrug to introduce a group of specially selected guests to the world of unique superyacht creation on Tuesday 2nd November – hosted in association with Superyachts.com.
Taking place on the cusp of the 57th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, VIPs arrived in the nautically styled gourmet restaurant to sample the finest Rose from Chateau d’Esclans, and learn more about the people who introudced the groundbreaking Sailing Yacht A to the waters of Germany.
As guests entered the private dining suite, they were met with hand-made cocktails, or a chilled glass of Rock Angel, and the chance to meet like-minded individuals in the search for something completely different.
The incredible pursuit of luxury, creativity and innovation that makes up the Nobiskrug philosophy was then introduced to those in attendance as Holger Kahl – Managing Director of Nobiskrug – placed a spotlight on the creativity behind the brand, and the superyacht lifestyle on offer.
Exquisite dishes and lavish wines kept the buzz of excited conversation flowing until late in the evening, and the contagious nature of creativity worked its away through the crowd.
Nobiskrug works with visionary owners in search of something truly unique, and the city of Miami is just one of the global hubs that reflect this ideal perfectly.
Another brand-new sales announcement has emerged today after progressive Italian shipyard WIDER Yachts has signed a new-build contract for a new 38 metre WIDER 125.
Scheduled for delivery in 2019, this technologically advanced superyacht was commissioned at the Monaco Yacht Show by a Northern European client and will sport the cutting-edge exterior style of Fulvio De Simoni.
This distinctive WIDER Style – most notable seen on the WIDER 150 superyacht Genesi – will wrap around spacious lifestyle areas with a full beam master stateroom on the main deck with a large opening terrace together with owner’s study and gym.
“I am delighted that we came to an agreement to build the WIDER 125” says Tilli Antonelli, Founder and CEO of WIDER SRL. “The client is an experienced charter customer who knows how his family want to use and enjoy their yacht. We have been talking for over a year and the client has looked at the market in detail and decided to build with WIDER. We are grateful to him for showing his faith in us to build his first yacht…Many thanks also go to Georges Damonte from Damonte Yacht Consulting for his assistance in securing the build.”
Following on from the European yacht shows, and announced just before the 57th Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, activity is rapidly increasing this week with project sales and launches, and now a new 38 metre superyacht from WIDER Yachts heading to the water in the next few years.
